As in Colossal Cafe. This is the St. Paul location. You really need to try the flappers, which are yeast-based pancakes. They're crazy good.

Santa's little helpers

Bringin' it.

Cold morning 3

Completing the cold morning triptych, and throwing down a little black and white action just to keep you on your toes. This one was taken looking toward St. Paul, standing on the tracks of the Chicago Great Western Railway.

Gonna rise up

Going crazy with the bread baking and selling at Breadsmith on the corner of Grand and Snelling. If you haven't tried Stollen yet, you need to. No, seriously, YOU. NEED. TO.

Cold morning 2

Second early morning shot from the Wabasha Street Bridge, downtown St. Paul. This is looking northeast toward Harriet Island and the Robert Street Bridge.

Swag Ca$h-Dro

Pretty much sums it up, I do believe.
Although I have to wonder if Ca$h-Dro is any relation to Ke$ha....

The Crest of the Wave

Sculpture by Harriet W. Frishmuth at the Marjorie McNeeley Conservatory, St. Paul.

Vicious circle

Starting from the back left, Papa Vicious, Curv Vicious, then kneeling in front, Whiplash. Curv owns Roller Revolution on University Avenue in St. Paul, a store specializing in roller derby equipment. They are some of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.

Got my orange Rush

Open up

Don't know why this place is closed. I keep thinking if I stand in front of it long enough, it will magically reopen. Not that we don't have a good selection of hot dog joints to choose from in the Cities, but still, can there ever be too many?

The triangular face of evil

I have no idea what the hell that thing is, but let's hope it sticks to gum instead of developing a taste for HUMAN FLESH.

Now trending

The Trend Bar, University Avenue. The gentlemen with the beard is Steve, who tends bar. Look him up; he'll treat you right.

Hot spot

Snowing like a boss this morning, so I did the only sensible thing I could: hid inside and shot pictures of the Sunken Garden at Como Conservatory.

secret code

Which I, in my total unhipness, cannot read or decipher. But I'm still intrigued.

Met these folks from Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday. They were set up in the parking lot of American Bank, which allows them use of the space, near the corner of Snelling and University. They were serving up food and handing out toiletries and other necessities to whomever stopped by. Not a believer myself, but can't fault them for being out there on the streets trying to do some good.

Under construction

Beautiful weekend in the Twin Cities. Whether by a lake or in the middle of the city, people were out and about enjoying the mild weather.

Working on the Light Rail system along the Central Corridor. Corner of Snelling and University, St. Paul.

Micey's Restaurant

Sign for a restaurant, just off University and Snelling, apparently no longer in existence. I searched the Internets but couldn't find any information about it.
