Pope's got a garden in St. Paul

Stumbled across this while wandering around the West Side. Climbed a set of metal stairs set into a woody hillside that popped me out right near, no lie, "Pope John Paul II's Neighborhood Children and Adult Garden".

Chateau St. Croix Winery and Vineyard. Quality wines and a French-influenced chateau right in the Twin Cities' backyard. The Riesling and the Jaune D'or Port were knockout favorites.

first step to First Avenue

This steely-eyed gent is John Harrington Stevens, the first authorized resident on the west bank of the Mississippi River in what would eventually become Minneapolis. He was granted permission to reside on the site in exchange for providing a ferry service across the river to St. Anthony.
